Facilidad y utilidad del uso de Internet: implicaciones para la innovación educativa

The use of the Internet, indicated by the degree of perception of usefulness and ease, has been observed as an antecedent of educational innovation. As it is a meaningful teaching-learning sequence, the adoption of technology, devices and networks imply accessibility and diversity of content that the perceptual dimensions determine. Consequently, a confirmatory, psychometric, and correlational study was carried out with a sample of 340 students, considering their participation in social networks and educational platforms. A structure was found that explained 29% of the total variance, suggesting the extension of the study to other scenarios and samples.El uso de Internet, indicado por el grado de percepción de utilidad y facilidad, se ha observado como un antecedente de innovación educativa. CARCINOMA EPIDERMOIDE ASOCIADO A LA INFESTACIÓN CRÓNICA POR HABRONEMA MUSCAE EN UN CABALLO DE RAZA PINTO: REGISTRO DE UN CASO EN VENEZUELA

An 8 year old male Pinto horse (Equus caballus) had a history of chronic exudative nodular balanopostitis complicated by secondary bacterial infection dating back to 4 years. Severe chronic wasting, oliguria, stranguria, polydipsia and lymphoadenomegaly of bubos femurales and pre-scapular areas were noted. Euthanasia was performed. Later necropsy was performed systematically by the techniques described for horses. Tissue sections were taken for histopathological examination and were processed by conventional methods. Fecal samples were taken for parasitological studies. Gross examination revealed severe chronic wasting, and exudative balanoposthitis with severe chronic secondary bacterial infection. Evidenced hydroperitoneum lymphoadenomegaly of mesenteric nodes were also observed. Histological sections showed severe chronic balanoposthitis, with focal cell proliferation of squamous cell with abundant spin cells acanthosis, pleomorphism, nuclear hyperchromasia, anaplasia, typical mitotic figures, and atypical consistant presence of abundant pearls corneas. In some areas, granulomas were observed with parasite forms of the genus Habronema. Parasitological results were consistent with eggs of Habronema muscae. In conclusion, the clinical history, and macroscopic and histological findings demonstrate a syndrome of chronic balanopostitis and metastatic squamous cell carcinoma.Se remite un caballo (Equus caballus), sexo macho, de raza Pinto y 8 años de edad. Con historia de balanopostitis nodular exudativa crónica complicada con infección bacteriana secundaria data de 4 años. Emaciación crónica severa. Oliguria, estranguria y polidipsia. Linfadenomegalia de nódulos linfáticos inguinales y femurales preescapulares. Se le practicó eutanasia. Posteriormente se le prácticó necropsia por las técnicas sistemáticas descritas para equinos. Se tomaron secciones de tejido para estudio histopatológico y fueron procesadas por los métodos convencionales de procesamiento histológico. Fueron tomadas muestras de heces para estudios parasitológicos. El examen macroscópico reveló emaciación crónica severa. Balanopostitis exudativa crónica severa con infección bacteriana secundaria. Se evidencio hidroperitoneo marcado. Linfadenomegalia de nódulos mesentéricos. Los cortes histológicos evidenciaron: Balanopostitis crónica severa, con focos de proliferación de células escamosas espinocelulares con abundante acantosis, pleomorfismo, hipercromasia nuclear, anaplasia, figuras mitóticas típicas y atípicas constantes, presencia de perlas corneas abundantes. En algunas zonas se observaron granulomas con formas parasitarias tipo Habronema. Los resultados del estudio coprológico fueron consistentes con huevos de Habronema muscae. En conclusión: la historia clínica, los hallazgos macroscópicos e histológicos evidencian un síndrome de balanopostitis crónica y carcinoma epidermoide metastásico

LESIONES GÁSTRICAS, HEPÁTICAS Y RENALES EN EL SÍNDROME DE ÚLCERAS GÁSTRICAS EN EQUINOS PURA SANGRE DE CARRERA.

The aim of this study was to describe gastric, hepatic, and renal lesions inThoroughbred Racing horses associated to the equine gastric ulcer syndrome. Thirtyhorses with a history of gastric ulcer syndrome and recurrent colic during 2006 to 2007 atthe Race Track «La Rinconada», Caracas, Venezuela were evaluated. Horses were euthanized and the necropsy was conducted. Tissue samples were collected from stomach,liver and kidney, and processed by conventional histological methods. In the stomach,the mucosa was intact but areas of hyperaemia and hyperkeratosis were observed in 6cases, multifocal small erosions or ulcers in 6 cases, multifocal large ulcers with areas ofextensive erosion in 12 cases and extensive areas of ulceration with exposure of thesubmucosa in 6 cases. The macroscopic evaluation of the liver showed evidenthepatomegaly in 22 cases and lobular pattern in 18 cases. The kidneys showed severecongestion in all cases, loss of cortico-medullar ratio in 20 cases, cortical necrosis in 18cases, acute tubular necrosis in all cases, papillary necrosis in 6 cases, and adherence ofthe capsule with interstitial fibroplasia in 4 cases. Lesions in the gastric mucosa, liver andkidney were associated with extended treatment with non-steroidal anti-inflammatorydrugsEl objetivo del estudio fue describir lesiones gástricas, hepáticas y renales en caballos Pura Sangre de Carreras enmarcadas en el síndrome ulceroso gástrico equino. Se trabajó con 30 ejemplares Pura Sangre de Carrera con historia de síndrome ulceroso gástrico y cólico recurrentes entre 2006 y 2007, en el Hipódromo «La Rinconada», Caracas, Venezuela. A los animales se les practicó la eutanasia y se colectó nuestras de tejido gástrico, hepático y renal. Las muestras fueron procesadas por los métodos histológicos convencionales. En el estómago se observó mucosa intacta, pero con áreas de hiperemia y/o hiperqueratosis en 6 casos, pequeñas erosiones multifocales o úlceras en 30 casos, úlceras grandes multifocales con regiones extensas de erosión en 12 casos, y úlceras extensivas con áreas de exposición de la submucosa en 6 casos. La evaluación macroscópica del hígado evidenció icteria en 22 casos, así como hepatomegalia y patrón lobulillar en 18 casos. Los riñones mostraron congestión severa en todos los casos, pérdida de la relación córtico medular en 20 casos, necrosis cortical 18 casos, necrosis tubular aguda en todos los casos, necrosis papilar confluente en 6 casos y adherencia de la cápsula con fibroplasia intersticial en 4 casos. Las lesiones observadas en la mucosa gástrica, hígado y riñón estuvieron asociadas con terapéuticas prolongadas con antiinflamatorios no esteroideos

CATASTROPHIC MUSCULOSKELETAL INJURIES IN THOROUGHBRED HORSES, CARACAS-VENEZUELA

Se hizo un estudio clínico-patológico de las lesiones músculo-esqueléticas catastróficas ocurridas en pruebas públicas en el Hipódromo “La Rinconada”, Caracas, Venezuela, entre el 2000 al 2007. Se trabajó con 78 equinos Pura Sangre de Carrera con lesiones del aparato locomotor. Se colectó muestras de sangre para estudio hematológico, bioquímico y hormonal (paratohormona), así como muestras de orina para determinar niveles de fosfatos. Se les practicó la eutanasia debido a la severidad de las lesiones y se realizó la necropsia. Se tomó secciones de tejido óseo para determinación de calcio y fósforo, y de tejido muscular, tendinoso, gástrico, renal y hepático para estudio histológico. Los exámenes clínicos revelaron claudicación grado IV-V en todos los animales. La pérdida de continuidad ósea (fracturas) ocurrió en todos los casos, y exposición de estructuras óseas, articulares, rupturas de tendones, ligamentos y compromiso vascular en el 60%. Las fracturas fueron de tipo multifragmentaria (60%), oblicua (25%) y espiral (15%). Los valores sanguíneos y de orina estuvieron afectados. En la necropsia se observó el síndrome ulceroso gástrico equino, congestión hepática y necrosis tubular aguda renal. El análisis histológico reveló gastritis aguda superficial severa, úlceras gástricas, necrosis periacinar hepática, osteomalacia y necrosis del hueso subcondral, condromalacia y capsulitis severa.A clinical and pathological study was conducted on musculoskeletal catastrophic lesions of the locomotive apparatus occurred in 78 Thoroughbred horses in the racetrack «La Rinconada», Caracas, Venezuela, during 2000 to 2007. Blood samples were collected for hematological, biochemical and parathormone analysis in blood. Also, urine samples for phosphate levels. All animals were euthanized due to severe lesions, and bone, tendons, stomach, kidney and liver samples were taken for by histopathology evaluation. Clinical exams revealed lameness grade IV-V in all animals. Losses of bone continuity (fracture) occurred in all cases, and exposition of bone structures, joint damage, rupture of tendons and ligaments and vascular destruction were observed in 60% of them. The types of fractures were comminuted (60%), oblique (25%) and spiral (15%). Blood and urine values were affected. Necropsy showed equine gastric ulcer syndrome, liver congestion and renal acute tubular necrosis. Histopathological analysis showed acute and severe gastritis, gastric ulcers, hepatic periacinar necrosis, osteomalacia and necrosis in subchondral bone, chondromalacia and severe capsulitis

Especificación de un modelo para el estudio de la percepción de utilidad

A model is a data management, production and transfer system organized in explanatory trends of past, current and future relationships. The emphasis on each suggests decision making and strategy execution. The objective of this work was to specify a model for of the perception of utility. An exploratory and cross-sectional study was conducted with a selection of 186 students from a public university in central Mexico, considering their participation in the system of professional practices and social service in local organizations. The validity of the instrument that found a one-dimensional variable that explained 43% of the variance was established, but the research design limited the results to the research scenario, suggesting the extension of the work

Adherence model to cervical cancer treatment in the Covid-19 era

سرطان الرحم العنقي هو مرض يفسر الضعف الذي تعاني منه النساء من حيث الصحة الإنجابية مع تأثيره على الصحة المهنية والصحة العامة , فعندما يكون معدل الانتشار في المكسيك أقل من البلدان الأعضاء الأخرى في منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي والتنمية ، فإن تأثيره على التنمية البشرية والتنمية المحلية يظهر أهمية المرض في المجتمعات أكثر من المدن حيث يبدو أن سياسات الوقاية من خلال الفحوصات الطبية تكبح هذا التوجه ، لكنها تظهر نقص الفرص والقدرات في المراكز الصحية في المناطق الريفية. لإثبات الموثوقية والصلاحية والارتباطات بين المتغيرات المذكورة في الجانب النظري فيما يتعلق بوزنهم في مستشفى عام. تم إجراء دراسة غير تجريبية ، مقطعية واستكشافية مع اختيار غير احتمالي لـ 104 مرضى من مستشفى عام في ولاية المكسيك. تم إنشاء مقياس المتغيرات النفسية والاجتماعية للالتزام بعلاج سرطان الرحم العنقي. من النموذج الهيكلي ، تم إثبات تعديل مسارات تحديد العلاقات التي تؤثر فيها المعرفة على سلوك الالتزام بالعلاج. يلاحظ حدود تصميم الدراسة وأخذ العينات وتحليلها ويوصى بتضمين المتغيرات التنظيمية والنفسية المدعومة بنظريات المنظمات ونظريات الشخصية.Cervical Uterine Cancer is a disease that explains the vulnerability in which women are in terms of reproductive health with an impact on occupational health and public health, even when in Mexico the prevalence rate is lower than the other member countries of the OECD, its impact on Human Development and Local Development shows the importance that the disease have in communities more than in cities where prevention policies through check-ups and medical examinations seem to curb the trend, but show the lack of opportunities and capacities of health centers in rural areas.   To establish the reliability, validity, and correlations between the variables reported in the literature with respect to their weighting in a public hospital. A non-experimental, cross-sectional and exploratory study was carried out with a non-probabilistic selection of 104 patients from a public hospital in the State of Mexico. The Scale of Psychosocial Variables Determinants of Adherence to Treatment of Cervical Uterine Cancer was constructed. From a structural model, it was demonstrated the adjustment of the trajectories of determining relationships in which knowledge influenced the behavior of adherence to treatment. The limits of the design, sampling and analysis of the study are noted and it is recommended to include organizational and psychological variables supported by theories of organizations and theories of personality

The evolution of the ventilatory ratio is a prognostic factor in mechanically ventilated COVID-19 ARDS patients

Background: Mortality due to COVID-19 is high, especially in patients requiring mechanical ventilation. The purpose of the study is to investigate associations between mortality and variables measured during the first three days of mechanical ventilation in patients with COVID-19 intubated at ICU admission. Methods: Multicenter, observational, cohort study includes consecutive patients with COVID-19 admitted to 44 Spanish ICUs between February 25 and July 31, 2020, who required intubation at ICU admission and mechanical ventilation for more than three days. We collected demographic and clinical data prior to admission; information about clinical evolution at days 1 and 3 of mechanical ventilation; and outcomes. Results: Of the 2,095 patients with COVID-19 admitted to the ICU, 1,118 (53.3%) were intubated at day 1 and remained under mechanical ventilation at day three. From days 1 to 3, PaO2/FiO2 increased from 115.6 [80.0-171.2] to 180.0 [135.4-227.9] mmHg and the ventilatory ratio from 1.73 [1.33-2.25] to 1.96 [1.61-2.40]. In-hospital mortality was 38.7%. A higher increase between ICU admission and day 3 in the ventilatory ratio (OR 1.04 [CI 1.01-1.07], p = 0.030) and creatinine levels (OR 1.05 [CI 1.01-1.09], p = 0.005) and a lower increase in platelet counts (OR 0.96 [CI 0.93-1.00], p = 0.037) were independently associated with a higher risk of death. No association between mortality and the PaO2/FiO2 variation was observed (OR 0.99 [CI 0.95 to 1.02], p = 0.47). Conclusions: Higher ventilatory ratio and its increase at day 3 is associated with mortality in patients with COVID-19 receiving mechanical ventilation at ICU admission. No association was found in the PaO2/FiO2 variation

Innovación en las enseñanzas universitarias: experiencias presentadas en las III Jornadas de Innovación Educativa de la ULL

En este libro se recoge un conjunto de experiencias de innovación educativa desarrolladas en la ULL en el curso 2011-12. Se abordan distintos ámbitos y ramas del conocimiento, y ocupan temáticas variadas que han sido desarrolladas con rigor, y con un claro potencial para su extrapolación a efectos de la mejora educativa en el ámbito universitario. Esta publicación constituye una primera edición de una serie que irá recogiendo las experiencias de innovación educativa de la ULL. Este es un paso relevante para su impulso en nuestra institución, como lo es el de su vinculación con la investigación educativa, para potenciar su publicación en las revistas científicas en este ámbito cada vez más pujante y relevante para las universidades. Sobre todo representan el deseo y el compromiso del profesorado de la ULL para la mejora del proceso educativo mediante la investigación, la evaluación y la reflexión compartida de nuestras prácticas y planteamientos docentes
